Keynote speaker biographies
Dr. Lovern Moseley is a Licensed Psychologist with nearly 30 years of experience in the mental health field. She is currently on staff in the Division of Child & Adolescent Psychiatry at Boston Medical Center and is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at Boston University School of Medicine. Dr. Moseley is also the CEO of Empowerment Counseling and Psychotherapy Center in MA and RI.
Dr. Moseley has worked extensively with young people struggling with emotional and behavioral disorders and those with traumatic exposures. As part of her practice, Dr. Moseley addresses the transition to adulthood and career concerns.
Michelle Brathwaite is a Regional Vice President with Primerica Financial Services who in 2009 was promoted to Regional Vice President becoming the first Black female Regional Vice President in Massachusetts. 25+years and counting she has helped families build, grow and pass down generational wealth through investment strategies, estate preservation and taxation strategies.
Michelle is very active in the Boston community. She enjoys hosting Financial Wellness seminars for companies and organizations. Her passion project is the monthly Building Black Wealth seminar series she conducts with her co-collaborator Denisha McDonald of Our Village Initiative.
Jonathan Allen and Derrick Young Jr. are Co-Founders of Leadership Brainery, a Boston- based company closing wealth gaps by ensuring underrepresented communities have equitable access to master's and doctoral degrees and workforce leadership.
Jonathan L. Allen, JD, MTS, is Co-founder and Director of Development at Leadership Brainery. He is an Innovator-in-Residence at Boston University and is also known for his commitment to public service, evidenced by his 2019 run for Boston City Council and his work with Partners in Health to stop the spread of COVID-19 throughout Massachusetts. Jonathan is a dynamic and sought-after thought leader and was named in the 40 Under 40 by The Boston Business Journal and as one of Boston’s “Most Influential Men of Color” by Get Konnected!. Derrick Young Jr., MPH, is the Co-founder and Executive Director of Leadership Brainery. He is the former Policy and Strategy Specialist for Intergovernmental Relations at the Boston Public Health Commission, Information Box Supervisor at Boston’s Medical Intelligence Center, former Harvard CFAR Membership Chair and Tufts Public Health Alumni Association President, and serves on boards and councils to advance health and educational equity.
