All NEW BMC volunteers are required to initially serve in the BMC Ambassador role or the Entertainment Cart role as an introductory to the volunteer experience.
These roles provide orientation to the BMC campus, clients/patients/family/staff.
This initial role helps volunteers learn about the patient experience (nervousness, confusion, anxiety, language barriers, emotional distress) as well as learning about calming, listening, assisting, providing information and walking with patients as they access the medical center.
The hospital dictates the volunteer need and Volunteer Services responds to fill those roles. Volunteers may request to be assigned to specific opportunities in specialized volunteer roles on specific floors and units as these become available. Volunteer Services will assist.
